Psychological Assessment (Adults)

Thoughtful, Evidence Based Assessments That Bring Clarity and Understanding

Sometimes you aren't just looking for support. You're looking for answers. You may be wondering why certain patterns keep showing up, whether a diagnosis might help explain your experiences, or what kind of support would actually make a difference.

Psychological assessments at Four Wings Psychology are offered to adults only. These assessments provide a structured and compassionate way to better understand mental health, learning, or emotional functioning in adulthood, and to use that understanding to guide next steps.

At Four Wings Psychology, we provide adult psychological assessments in Nepean and, when appropriate, virtually across Ontario. Our approach is careful, collaborative, and grounded in evidence, with respect for your full story rather than just test results.

What Is a Psychological Assessment for Adults?

A psychological assessment for adults is a comprehensive process that brings together clinical interviews, standardized measures, and professional interpretation to better understand how you think, feel, learn, and cope.

Assessments are not about labeling or judging. They are about clarity. The goal is to help make sense of your experiences while identifying strengths, challenges, and supports that fit your life stage, responsibilities, and goals.

Depending on your needs, an adult assessment may include:
• Clinical interviews and background history
• Standardized questionnaires or rating scales
• Cognitive, emotional, or behavioural measures
• Review of relevant records with consent
• A detailed written report with clear and practical recommendations

Why Adults Seek Psychological Assessments

Adults seek psychological assessments for many different reasons. You do not need to be in crisis or certain about what you are looking for to benefit from the process.

Adult psychological assessments can help with:
• Diagnostic clarification such as ADHD, anxiety, or mood concerns
• Understanding attention, executive functioning, or learning differences in adulthood
• Exploring emotional or behavioural patterns
• Supporting workplace or academic accommodations
• Clarifying treatment recommendations
• Making sense of long standing challenges
• Supporting major life transitions or decision making

For many adults, having language and understanding around their experiences can feel grounding, validating, and empowering.

Types of Adult Assessments Offered

At Four Wings Psychology, adult assessment services may include
• Mental health and diagnostic assessments for adults

Please note: At this time, we do not offer psychological assessments for children or adolescents.

What to Expect During an Adult Psychological Assessment

The assessment process is collaborative and paced with care. We take time to understand your concerns, answer your questions, and ensure you know what to expect at each stage.

An assessment typically includes:

Initial Consultation (30 minutes)
When you schedule your initial meeting for a psychological assessment, we will send you several questionnaires to complete. Once received, we will have a conversation to discuss your goals and determine whether a psychological assessment is the right fit. Following this consultation, we will provide you with a written assessment quote which will outline the cost of the assessment package. Please note that the cost of this session will be credited to your assessment should you choose to proceed with the full assessment.

Assessment Sessions (2 to 4 60-minute sessions; based on complexity)
Completion of interviews, questionnaires, or standardized measures across one or more appointments, depending on the scope of the assessment.

Interpretation and Report Writing (2 to 6 hours; based on complexity)
The clinician integrates all information using evidence based guidelines and clinical expertise.

Feedback Session (1 60-minute session)
Results are reviewed together in clear and accessible language, including findings, diagnoses when applicable, and personalized recommendations.

Our goal is for you to leave the process with understanding, direction, and information you can use in your daily life.

Trauma Informed and Person Centered Care

Adult psychological assessments at Four Wings are conducted through a trauma informed lens. This means
• Your comfort, consent, and pacing are prioritized
• You are never pressured to disclose more than you are ready to share
• The process is explained clearly and transparently
• Strengths are highlighted alongside challenges
• Cultural, identity, and contextual factors are considered

An assessment should feel respectful and supportive, not overwhelming or overly clinical.
