Aniqa is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) under the CRPO and is the founder of Piya’s Place, a private practice dedicated to serving marginalized and underrepresented populations in our community. Aniqa offers both virtual and in-person services to youth (16+), adult individuals, and couples, and specializes in anxiety and depression, interpersonal concerns, spirituality/existential concerns, and grief/loss.

Aniqa has a distinct passion for addressing culture-based distress, with a particular focus on BIPOC and South Asian populations. Additionally, she has a special interest in supporting teens and young adults in the realms of self-esteem and identity development.

As a Muslim, South Asian, and “third-culture kid”, Aniqa strives to provide therapy that is client-centered and evidence-based. Some of her therapeutic modalities include narrative therapy, systems therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).

In a nutshell, her approach is both holistic and integrative, spiritually and trauma-informed, attachment-based, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive in nature.

While working with Aniqa, you can expect an empathic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative experience built upon mutual trust and transparency. Through your therapeutic journey, Aniqa hopes to create a space with you wherein you can feel safe, seen, and supported.
